Drometrizole CAS 2440-22-4
Drometrizole, chemically known as (2′-Hydroxy-5-methylphenyl) benzotriazole, is a high-performance benzotriazole-based UV absorber with strong protection in the 280–340 nm range. As a classical UV-P grade stabilizer, it is widely used in plastics, coatings, adhesives, cosmetics, and other materials that require efficient UV shielding. Drometrizole effectively prevents yellowing, surface cracking, loss of gloss, and degradation caused by ultraviolet radiation, providing long-lasting photo-stability even under harsh outdoor conditions. Its excellent thermal stability and low volatility make it highly suitable for polymer processing at high temperatures.
Drometrizole is soluble in many organic solvents such as gasoline, benzene, acetone, etc., but its solubility in water is very small. Drometrizole dissolves in alkali to form a yellow salt. Drometrizole is colorless or pale yellow crystal.
